The Prairie Business Report did a great article on Black Butte Adventures http://www.prairiebizmag.com/articles/index.cfm?id=9409&section=homepage.  Thanks to Candi for helping get the word out about rural tourism.

As the rest of the state sits and waits for spring, we are doing the same waiting, only for rain.  Unfortunately all of the moisture has gone around us, so we still have a burn ban in McHenry County, which means we will not have campfires.  We have been watering around the campsite in order to keep the grass comfortable, but s'mores will have to be done in the microwave for now!

The trail does look great and we are looking forward to the Prairie Rose Mountain Bike race and other groups as they look at getting an experience on the Prairie.  The creek has been flowing and attracting a diverse set of animals.  We were out scouting for an additional crossing for the trail and another hiking loop and noticed a wide variety of tracks near the water.  If you are interested in seeing mother nature up close, come near sunset or sunrise, sit quietly and you might be lucky enough to catch a white tail enjoying a cool drink of water.

Be sure to call ahead if you would like an ag tour or to camp - feel free to drop by anytime to hike or bike.
