Finally - the trail has been sprayed and within a few days it will be much easier to travel. Intentions are to get out into the west pasture and cut/mow the new three mile loop (pending more rain). Right now the flowers are blooming and we saw a new badger trying to run away from the Prowler. He was a bit confused regarding what we were doing in his territory and we were very grateful not to see the mom! Badgers are not the first to back down when confronted.
A great big thank-you to Michael for taking a day to help us keep the trail up. This is not really his first priority on projects and it takes nearly 8 hours for us to get the trail sprayed and into shape. It also takes almost $300 dollars in spray each year to make this trail easy to see. At this point, we are relying on the generousity of people that use the trail to help pay for maintenance. Our budgets run very tight every year, and by helping in the maintenance by paying a little at the gate when visiting, this will help keep the trail open. We rely on people being honest, and hope this continues so we can keep the trail open for bikers a majority of the year.
Next week Black Butte Adventures will be hosting ten foriegn jounalists as they see agriculture and energy in North Dakota. We are excited to share our rural culture and heritage with these visitors from around the world. Our stop is one of many in the state and we plan on helping them understand the importance and value of production agriculture.
As always, enjoy the great outdoors and give us a call if you are in the neighborhood.
