Fall has crept onto the plains and harvest keeps rolling. A nice rain yesterday will keep some of the dust down, which helps the pastures but slows down the farmers progress. I've added a great picture from Highway 52 near the Voltaire elevator to showcase North Dakota's sunsets. The evenings are cool now and days are wonderful - just the right time to visit.
Some great comments from our friends at UND, Jerry and Norma recently hosted for the New Faculty Tour. It was fun to help "educate" people on the value of North Dakota. Of course, Norma's home cooking helps!
"I've had the pleasure of Jerry's commentary from this site on many occasions. This guy understands agriculture, North Dakota, higher education, and just about everything else one can think of. Plus, he and Norma have two great kids!" Dave Vorland
"AND, they put on a great spread for their friends. That wheat dish is EXCELLENT, Norma." Peter Johnson
We will be welcoming Andreas Geldner, a Washington based bureau reporter from Germany on Thursday. He is traveling North Dakota and will be visiting with Jerry regarding living and working in North Dakota and about the mentality and daily life. Of course no visit to Black Butte would be complete without some of Norma's home cooking including local products and Limousin beef- I'm guessing he will even get some wheat salad!
